We had an amazing week off school last week. The only school work that we did was with Emily's Special Ed Teacher and educational games. I really think that our year round schedule is going to work out great for our family. I really needed the break, and so did the kids. Monday was a little hard getting the kids back into school mode, but we began slowly.
Bible: This week we learned that Jesus is the Rock. We worked on memorizing Matthew 7.24. We then put each verse in our Adventure year book.
History: We spent the week learning about Benjamin Franklin. I can't believe what an outstanding man he was. I was amazed to learn about all of this man's inventions and accomplishments. I only know about him and the kite. We would have loved to go out and fly kites, but here in California it isn't windy yet. I found a great notebook page to give to the girls teachers (we school through a charter and work samples are needed) for Franklin. Jake just talked to his teacher about Ben, as I couldn't really find anything for a kindergartner to hand in. I need to get more creative for him.
| These were our two favorite books for Ben this week. |
We learned that Ben Franklin was a printer and that he published an annual almanac called Poor Richard's Almanack, so we put in their notebook. At the end of our week, we added Ben to our timeline.
As you all know, my kids love school movies. They enjoyed watching the movie "What's the Big Idea Ben Franklin?". Again, I learned a lot from this movie too. I truly do enjoy homeschooling just as much as the kids do. It is amazing how much we forget from childhood. We also had the pleasure of watching the first episodes of Liberty Kids. ![]() |

Music: This week Ashley and I began our weekly music lesson about Tchiakovsky. We listened to the biography of Tchiakovsky who was a famous musician. Ashley is over joyed with this, as she is our little ballerina. She can not wait for next weeks lesson.
