MFW Adventures Week 7

Bible: Our lessons continued with the promise of Jesus as “The Bread of Life”. We discussed the story of a woman that gave her last bit of bread to Elijah.  I always love these kinds of stories in the bible.  The kids can really relate to them.

History: We continued reading about the  pioneers who came from France and how much they were helped by the Indians when they got here. We read another story from American Pioneers and Patriots, which we all really enjoyed. We learned that the Indians taught the French settlers to use canoes, I wish we would have had time to make them, but we didn't.  Hopefully this is something Jake and I can do on the weekend.  I looked ahead for next week, and it looks like we jump about 100 years.  I'm amazed at home much the kids have learned so far.  They seem to really like this period in time.

Emily's Draw and Write Series

imageWe finished reading The Courage of Sarah Noble.  The girls really enjoyed the book.  Jake thought it was too girly! It looks like we will start a new book next week, and once again it looks really girly.  Poor Jake.

To wrap up our week, we watched The Sign of the Beaver. This was a great movie and I recommend it to others studying this time period.

Science: We continued looking at yeast to go along with our bread study in Bible. On Tuesday, The boys and I made homemade play dough. This was perfect for Max and Jake.  They played with the dough for hours.  The girls enjoyed making for bread. We made sweet bread and sour dough bread.  Our house smelt wonderful this week.

I'm sorry to lack pictures this week, but it was a very crazy week for us.  Next week is our week off school, and we are all looking forward to it. Since we schooled most of the summer with small breaks, we decided to school year round.

Head over to " Homeschool Highlights in MFW" to read more post of families using My Father's World curriculum.
